The remains of 24-year-old Alexis Gabe were discovered Thursday in Plymouth, California, according to the authorities.Authorities have found some of the bones of a California woman who went missing earlier this year and whose ex-boyfriend is suspected of killing her.In a news release on Friday, the Oakley Police Department disclosed that 24-year-old Alexis Gabe’s bones had been found. Her identity was verified by her dental history.Approximately 80 miles away from her hometown of Oakley, in Plymouth, California, a neighbor discovered Gabe’s remains on Thursday, according to the authorities.According to the press release, “we do believe the remaining of Alexis’ remains are spread in various regions due to the nature of her remains’ state and the absence of her whole body.” We understand that Alexis may never fully recover because of the state of her remains.In Antioch, California, on January 26, Gabe was last seen alive.The 27-year-old Marshall Curtis Jones, her ex-boyfriend, is accused of killing her at his house and dispersing her remains in a rural region.Following the murder of Gabe, Jones fled to Washington state and was later slain by authorities in a shootout, according to a previous PEOPLE investigation.Authorities published handwritten driving instructions in July that were thought to have been penned by Jones and included information on left and right turns as well as an estimated travel time.Police thought the directions ended where Jones dumped Gabe’s body at the time.Authorities noted that her bones were found in a region that had been identified early on and where “Jones traveled to in the hours and days after Alexis was reported missing,” however they did not elaborate on whether the directions actually indicated where her remains were discovered.The Gabe family has been informed and is demanding respect and privacy at this time of bereavement, the police say.Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or visit thehotline.org if you are a victim of domestic abuse.
